[Correspondence and a Blueprint Illustration on the Order of an Early Ice Cream Truck]

$75.00

A small archive documenting the order of a brand new ice cream transport truck by the New York Ice Cream Company of New Brunswick, New Jersey from the Newark branch of the Autocar firm. Materials are dated between October, 1912 and May, 1913, documenting a single transaction, one which involved outfitting a Type 21 truck body to the customer's specifications.

Highlighted by a large blueprint rendering, the contents note the truck was to be painted "Permanent Red Beet" with gold pin striping and lettering advertising "Neapolitan Bricks." Total purchase cost was $2,375 and materials detail the financing terms, a brief back-and-forth over specs, and ensuing repairs into 1913, providing a tidy internal glimpse at the early days of American commercial trucking in the food industry.

[Transportation] . [Correspondence and a Blueprint Illustration on the Order of an Early Ice Cream Truck]. Newark, New Jersey: The Autocar Sales and Service Co., (1912-1913). Group of materials including one blueprint illustration (measuring approximately 20" x 10") and about 15 typed documents (a blend of correspondence, invoices, and contracts). Some mild handling wear typical of age and use, otherwise solidly very good.
