[Henkel Co. Trade Catalog of Scissors and Shears]

75.00

A scarce, early 20th Century trade catalog issued by the Henkel Co., manufacturer of scissors, shears, etc..., of Fremont, Ohio, a once thriving industrial center located roughly between Cleveland and Toledo. The area was site to a significant natural gas discovery in the late 19th Century and quickly became an attractive home to industries with heat intensive manufacturing processes, particularly glass and metals. This copy with interesting markings, including the ownership inscription of the proprietor of a competing Fremont cutlery firm, Paul E. Schaaf of the Schaaf and Good Co. About the 100's of fine product illustrations are frequent notes, typically on remaining stocks, seemingly made by Schaaf to keep track of the competition. We find no institutional holdings nor commercial examples of a Henkel catalog. Scarce, thus, and with compelling signs of use.
