An album of 1980's snapshot photography documenting the family and leisure pursuits of a bi-racial couple in Compton centered around their involvement in an African-American custom van club called Magnificent Prowlers Vans of Compton. A laid-in typed sheet identifies more than 80 club members by their nicknames like The Hustler, Liquor Man, Big Blue, Stopper, Big Daddy, Cabbage Man, Lil Bop, Sweet Scorpio, Gang Green, etc... Roughly 100 of the 300 prints document vans or van gatherings with the balance capturing family and domestic travel scenes typical of contemporary keepsake albums.

A vivid vernacular glimpse at a niche African-American and transportation-interest subculture in 1980's Southern California. Contents generously shown here, additional image scans available upon request.
