[Snapshots of a Lemon Car]

25.00

A series of 5 prints of a circa-1957 Ford Fairlane, custom painted by its owner, prominently noting its status as a "lemon." An image of a leaking oil can over the hood suggests the problem, a price of $2,900 is painted on the passenger door and a boldly designed arrow points to the dealer badge pinned to the trunk which appears to read "Universal Motors." Georgia license plate clearly visible in 2 of the images and from a larger group of images belonging to a suburban Atlanta family. An amusing bit of vernacular photograph from an era prior to broad consumer protections in the auto industry.

[Photography] : [Automobiliana]. [Photographs of a Lemon Car]. [Atlanta, Georgia]: 1957. 5 silver print black and white photographs. Deckle edge prints (3 approximately 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" ; 2 approximately 3 1/2" square). 3 with staple holes through top margins (outside of image areas). Otherwise about very good.
