THE 1992 DIRECTORY OF AFRICAN AMERICAN STAGE & SCREEN WRITERS

$200.00
sold out

A 1992 industry directory providing the credentials for 100 different African-American writers for stage, television, and motion pictures published by Brian Keith Moody, a Black screenwriter and literary agent active from the 1970's into current day. From Moody’s introduction:

“This directory is designed to provide the television, motion picture and theatrical communities with a viable, up-to-date resource guide to African American stage, television and screen writers from around the country, both professional and up-and-coming.”

The cover is illustrated with portrait photograph reproductions of Spike Lee, Julie Dash, and John Singleton. Entries further include August Wilson, a young Chris Rock, Edward Bullins, etc… listing contact information, representation, produced / commissioned works for film, television, and stage, along with a list of available scripts, education, awards, etc...

This is noted as the first edition in Moody's preface with a second planned for 1993, though it is unclear to us if further editions ever made print. It appears to be unrecorded institutionally and likewise unavailable in commerce (as of June 2025).

[Film] : [African-Americana]. THE 1992 DIRECTORY OF AFRICAN AMERICAN STAGE & SCREEN WRITERS. New York: Brian Keith Moody Management, (1992). 100pp. 11" x 9." Illustrated card wrappers. Blue plastic-comb binding. Blue paper leaves with text to rectos only. Trace bit of handling wear to wrappers, overall near fine.
