A lovely illustrated trade catalog with more than 250 mounted fabric samples advertising the women's and children's clothing lines of tthe Janelene company of Indianapolis. The catalog opens with an approximately 20 page section on undergarments and lingerie followed by uniforms, suits for young boys, dresses for young gilrs, women's dresses, etc... A small group of loose sales material, including an order blank booklet identifying a saleswoman named Grace Mitchell of Somerville, Mass., are laid in additional.
The Janalene firm was established in 1924 in and dissolved in 1944 in Indianapolis. It advertised prolifically for independent women sales agents in papers throughout the country. An attractive Depression-era fashion catalog with rich additions relating to textiles, sales and marketing, women in the workforce, etc...

Indianapolis, Indiana: Janalene, Inc., (ca. 1934). Trade catalog. Approximately 11 1/4" x 9 1/2." Relief designed vinyl over board panels. Metal post binding at left marrgin. 88 paper leaves with sales text, color lithograph illustrations, and mounted fabric samples to rectos and versos. About 260 fabric samples in total with about 10 seemingly perished (and most of those with the word "out" hand-written where a sample would have been). With a small collection of addtiional material set loose into a pocket at interior of rear board. Very good throughout.
