A 70pp. manuscript journal, kept by an anonymous Navy man just following the end of World War II, documenting primarily a lengthy leave spent in and around his original home on Long Island and a detailed, 10pp. physical description of his first impressions of the Great Lakes Naval Air Station just north of Chicago.

[Anonymous] : [Militaria]. FROM THE END OF PRE FLIGHT THROUGH AND TO THE END OF PRIMARY - OCT. 1945-TO-MAR 46 [Internal Title - Original Manuscript Diary]. Various, including Chicago, Illinois ; Long Island, New York: 1945-1946. Small 4to. commercial notebook. Blue printed wraps with manufacturer's title to front along with illustrations of a young boy and girl: "SPECIAL / VALUE / COMPOSITION / BOOK / QUALITY." Printed multiplication tables and text of "Useful Information" to rear wrap. Thin black cloth backstrip over spine. 35 ruled noteboook leaves, full of manuscript entries in ink holograph cursive to rectos and versos. About 7,000 words total. Some mild handling wear to outer wraps. Text clearly legible throughout, internally clean. Solidly very good.
