A scarce piece of bright and vivid point of sale signage advertising Dr. Young's Ideal Rectal Dilators. The devices were marketed by a Dr. Frank E. Young (1853-1917) and sold out of Chicago beginning in the 1890's. Sales continued under the name well past his death, into the early 1940's when U.S. regulators confiscated and destroyed a shipment of 67 sets, claiming potential for misuse.

Undated, though print qualities suggest to us a date of about 1940.

Color lithograph and halftone print on thick card. With a thin card folding standing mounted to verso. A faint bit of rubbing to orange ink and lower corner of image side, otherwise uncommonly clean and about near fine.
