A handmade album holding 34 different 8" x 10" photographs of professional wrestlers compiled by Boyd Pierce of Fort Worth, Texas and presumably used as a sales aid as he hawked wrestling souvenirs and photographs as a sideline during his career as an announcer and commentator on regional pro wrestling circuits in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana in the 1960’s through the 1980’s.
We note his 1999 obituary in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and an excellent profile by Tony Richards published March 2026 on the website Pro Wrestling Time Tunnel:
“Boyd Anderson Pierce stands as one of the most memorable and endearing figures from professional wrestling’s territorial era. For more than three decades, his booming southern drawl, flamboyant suits, and folksy charm introduced fans across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and beyond to the rough-and-tumble world of “rasslin’.” [...] Pierce embodied the grassroots authenticity that defined regional wrestling in the 1960s through the 1980s. He served as both ring announcer and play-by-play commentator for major promotions including NWA Big Time Wrestling (the forerunner of World Class Championship Wrestling), Leroy McGuirk’s Tri-State Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling under “Cowboy” Bill Watts, and the short-lived Universal Wrestling Federation. Known for his bold, colorful attire and verbal jousts with heels, Pierce became a fan favorite whose catchphrases and earnest delivery made him feel like one of their own. [...] Off-camera, he was known to assert himself physically when provoked; one story recounts him bopping a disrespectful heel over the head with his microphone hard enough to draw blood after the wrestler tried to generate unscripted cheap heat. He also owned a clothing store and supplemented his wrestling income by running souvenir tables at arenas, selling photos and memorabilia [...]”
The album holds 34 photographs, each identified. We suspect most photos and the album date to the 1960's.. Wrestlers pictured include: Danny Hodge, Ciclon Negro, Nick Kozak, Hogan Wharton, Dory Dixon, Nelson Royal, Torbellino Blanco, El Gladiator, El Medico, Prince Maiva, Leo Garibaldi, Frank Townsend "The Singing Wrestler," Doug Gilbert, Otto Kuss, Paul Boesch, Jesus Cardenas, Cyclone Anaya, Enrique Guzman, Adnon Kaisy, Pepe Mendietta, Mr. Kleen, Don Leo "Gigantic" Joanathan (Utah's Sensational 6' 7" Mormon Strongman), Doug Kinslow, Don Kent, Tony Barbetta, Joe Christy, Tony Borne, Paul Vachon, Danny McShain, Angelo Martinelli, Poncho Lopez, and Geoge Curtis. Named photographers include: Photo by Alex (San Antonio) ; Randolph (San Bernardino, California) ; Shirlie Montgomery (San Jose, California) ; and Photo Lanza.
An endearing vernacular album of original photography from mid-20th Century wrestling in the southern and western states, uncommon to find in a cohesive collection like this as the current (and active) collector's market tends to prize individual photographs.

String binding together 36 manilla card leaves: two as wrapper panels and 34, each with a single black and white 8" x 10" photograph staple-mounted to rectos via a single staple at each corner. Title in ink to front: "PHOTOS / PLEASE LEAVE ON TABLE." Rear with previous owner's name and some stray notes. Mild toning, curling to cards. A few photographs with subject features outlined in blue ink pen. About very good overall.
